Acclaimed artist Janet Cardiff’s choral experience is one for the books. Through next month, experience sound in a new format via 40 speakers arranged in an oval, projecting sound inward as listeners take in the 40-part choral arrangement of 16th-century English composer Thomas Tallis’s composition performed by the Salisbury Cathedral Choir in a 14-minute loop. The artist’s work doesn’t stop at simply the vision -- Cardiff’s most complex element of the installation comes in the form of her layering of voices as each track, recorded individually, plays in tandem with the next, creating a sculpture of sound unlike any other. Enjoy SFMOMA’s revolutionary sound installation now through January 18th, and on Wednesday, January 13th, take advantage of complimentary admission all day long. Contact your Attaché for details.
