Forgione and Meadow are at it again with LDV’s latest Manhattan opening in the form of American Cut Midtown. The candlelit behemoth occupies the now breathtaking space adjacent to the Lombardy Hotel, revitalizing (finally) Midtown’s dining scene with digs as chic and inviting as the product of Forgione’s imagination come to life on each plate. While the sister to existing TriBeCa and Atlantic City locations is certainly a nod to its predecessors, it’s safe to say that this one is in a league of its own with a sprawling 36-seat bar and lounge area, a stunning display of over 300 wine bottles, and numerous private dining options for parties and events of all sizes.
Once the entertaining salon of Sir Randolph Hearst, the space channels old-world New York glam through decadent design by Chris Sheffield of SLDesign -- needless to say, the surroundings make ACM’s tableside cocktail service that much more enjoyable (and photogenic). Take a cue from us and start with the “Rapture” plateau featuring DJB oysters, Chef’s famous chili lobster, raw oysters, Littleneck clams, periwinkles, shrimp cocktail, stone crab claws, crab cocktail, poached lobster, tuna tartare, and last but not least, our favorite hiramasa tartare. Save room for the bone marrow with Burgundy escargot, short rib, and James Beard salad, and don’t miss the famed New York City cut, a 20-oz 30-day dry aged bone-in ribeye with house pastrami spices and smoke. Don’t even get us started on dessert.
