Just when we thought Alton Road would be forever without a Japanese reverse speakeasy, a hybrid team of New York chefs and Miami entrepreneurs came along and saved the day with neighborhood newcomer Able & Baker. Enter the industrial-chic-meets-Art-Deco space, rife with foliage and the occasional bohemian accent throughout the seemingly singular bar, behind which a hidden restaurant serves up a delightfully offbeat six-course Kaiseki-inspired tasting menu assembled using French technique. Two birds, one stone, as they say. Kick off the evening with a selection or two from Radio Bar vet Tatanka Guerrero’s cocktail menu followed by dinner (and more cocktails) in the dining room, or perhaps the other way around while we’re doing the whole reverse thing.
