Check out our fave five sweet treat outposts, baked with love and a dash of New York City.

Dominique Ansel

Having quickly grown into a household name, this SoHo gem slings iconic sweet and savory delights, drawing crowds day in and day out. There’s far more going on here than the famed Cronut; think frozen s’mores in the summertime, a light, lychee-laden pavlova in the spring, and a sinful religieuse oozing with caramel in the winter months. Swing by Chef Ansel's pride and joy for an all-seasons sugar rush.

Magnolia Bakery

When it comes to classic cupcakes and what is perhaps the best banana pudding on record, Magnolia's got it down to a science. Nowadays, the Magnolia name can be found in all corners of Manhattan, and those iconic white bakery bags are recognized far and wide. Signature red velvet cupcakes remain a staple alongside other classics like icebox cake and rich brownie bites, as well as more unique goodies like the sinfully delicious magic cookie bar. Grab an on-the-go fix with outposts now in Grand Central Station and Rockefeller Center.

Balthazar Bakery

For over 15 years, this New York City staple has drawn locals and out-of-towners alike to its endearingly tiny home attached to the namesake restaurant. It may be minuscule, but it packs a mighty punch of tasty proportions with resident best-sellers including Valhrona Chocolate bread, sweet potato pumpkin pie, and everything in between. Those looking to score a baguette on the go or bite into a flaky croissant while people watching on the streets of SoHo will not be disappointed. At Balthazar, it’s as classic as it gets.

City Bakery

City Bakery has won over the hearts of Manhattanites far and wide with its curious creations and spacious hideout fragrant with the sweet scent of goodies a-baking. We're talking giant homemade marshmallows, one-of-a-kind pretzel croissants, cinnamon-flecked baker’s muffins, and mouthwatering cookies (go for the coconut, vegan chocolate chip or peanut butter, or all three). But wait, there's more: CB's hot chocolate is to-die-for, and the retro juice bar is the perfect place to post up with a side of nutrients. One part bakery, one part cafe, and all parts sinfully delicious: this NYC gem keeps us coming back for more.

Levain Bakery

This cozy Upper West Side destination was brought to life after two competitive swimmers joined forces to create the perfectly satisfying cookie for optimal post-workout satiating, ultimately becoming its claim to sweet toothed fame. Levain’s mind-blowing monster cookies weigh in at ½ pound each and are worth their weight in gold. Seriously. These bad boys draw crowds daily along with Levain's other sweet treats, including killer sticky buns and chocolate chip brioches. We'll take a baker's dozen, please.
