There’s no foodie destination quite like Tuscany. Florence, an artisanal mecca with some of the region’s best, is chock full of iconic dining establishments and hidden gems alike. Check out our ideal day out and about on the streets of Firenze, created for the epicurean in all of us.
Wake up in the comfort of luxurious Hotel Lungarno to the incredible view of the river. Mosey on over the bridge to the other side of the water, greeting the day with a cappuccino at Gilli, taking in the incredible view of Piazza della Repubblica. Stroll through Piazza del Duomo toward San Lorenzo, home to the world-famous Mercato Centrale, and browse the countless booths of fresh and dried fruit and veggies, local charcuterie and cheeses, hand-pressed oils, freshly baked breads, and other goodies from all over the region. Grab a bowl of risotto or sandwich (and a glass of Chianti, of course) at Da Nerbone, a local favorite tucked away in the far corner of the market. But save room for dessert; there’s gelato to be had. Head to Santa Croce for the best scoop around at Vivoli, hidden in a back alley at Via Isole delle Stinche 7R (worth the hunt, we promise). Take a coppetta to go and meander through the art dealers and street performers of the piazza, stopping for a rest on the steps of the cathedral. And last but not least, dinnertime: no trip to Firenze is complete without a bistecca alla Fiorentina mission. Head to Perseus, located near Piazza San Marco and owned by an ex-butcher, for the city’s best cut. All in a day’s work. Contact your Attaché for a personalized itinerary.
