Contemporary Southeast Asian cuisine gets a South Florida twist in Miami’s booming Brickell neighborhood with the arrival of Komodo. At three stories tall, this sprawling upscale restaurant and lounge boasts 300 seats, three bars, and those outdoor floating bird nest pods that are without question leading the unofficial race for most Instagrammable seating of the year.

If the names Jeffrey Chodorow and David Grutman sound familiar, there’s good reason: the restaurateur and partner/nightlife guru (respectively) behind Miami Beach’s LIV and Story nightclubs teamed up yet again for this noteworthy project, serving up serious buzz in the dining scene with the indoor/outdoor behemoth in the heart of Brickell. Menu highlights include a lobster “dynamite” with crispy quinoa and scallion, truffled beef tartare, five-spice Kurobuta pork belly with cherry sweet & sour, a 22-ounce tuna porterhouse...we could go on. Save room for pastry chef Shawne Bryan’s Cloud Nine, a collaboration with Kygo in the form of a triple chocolate cake enveloping a double chocolate mousse, topped with spiced milk chocolate crémeuc and garnished with shichimi caramel popcorn, a chocolate cigar, and mango-passionfruit coulis served alongside a mango sorbet with chocolate pearls and cubes.
