Thanksgiving is not only a perfect time to spend with friends and family, but also a time to give to the less fortunate in the community. These Thanksgiving events offer a variety of options for celebrating and giving back this holiday season.

APPLIED MATERIALS SILICON VALLEY TURKEY TROT

Thursday, November 23
Santa Clara and First Streets | San Jose

This annual Thanksgiving run, voted as one of the best in the nation, is presented by Silicon Valley Leadership Group. Join other Bay Area residents in Downtown San Jose and start the holiday season on the right foot by taking part in the 5K run/walk, 10K run, or Kids Fun Run. The annual race provides families in need with health, hope and a home, raising over $6 million for local charitable programs.


VOLUNTEER WITH DOWNTOWN STREETS TEAM

Downtown Streets Team provides homeless and low-income men and women with the resources they need to rebuild their lives. Through collaboration between the private sector, government agencies, social service agencies, and most importantly, the community, the organization's ultimate goal is to transition these men and women into employment, offering hope and opening the doors to other opportunities.


LEGENDS WEEKEND 2017: NOTRE DAME V. STANFORD

Stanford Stadium

This annual game between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team of the University of Notre Dame and Stanford Cardinal football team of Stanford University has been played annually since 1997, with the teams meeting at Notre Dame Stadium earlier in the season (late September to mid-October) in even-numbered years, and at Stanford Stadium on the weekend following Thanksgiving in odd-numbered years since 1999.
